Emmanuel Macron, the French President has tagged a bloody crackdown on Algerian protesters by police in Paris 60 years ago an unforgivable crime.
As far back as 17 October 1961, French police turned on Algerian demonstrators, shooting some while others were drowned.
The actual number of victims that died is not certain, but some say several hundred could have lost their lives.
Meanwhile, Mr Macron is the first French president to recognise that crimes were committed on the said day.
